Born in Slovenia and Developed by a Visionary ski coach
The UPS Concept was created in Slovenia, a country with a strong tradition of ski innovation, by renowned ski coach and educator Sandi Murovec.
Sandi is a world famous skiing coach. He has worked with top-level athletes including Tina Maze, Slovenia’s FIS Alpine World Cup champion and Olympic gold medalist. He is a respected figure in alpine skiing not just for his career as a coach but also for his bold, forward-thinking approach to ski education. For years, he observed the limitations of traditional ski school structures and set out to create a system that was simpler, smarter, and more aligned with modern equipment and skier needs.
What is UPS?
UPS is a new approach to teaching skiing that uses the length of the ski as a key element of the learning process. It is based on the powerful idea that short skis can allow us to learn some movements very quickly if used on the correct terrain. The same movement will be easily mastered, switching progressively to longer skies and steeper slopes.The length progression starts with 90cm long skies, then 125cm and finally full size.
Parallel from the start. No More Snowplough
In most ski schools, beginners are taught to start in a snowplough (wedge). This unnatural, forced stance often feels awkward and slow and demotivates beginners on their first day.
UPS aims to teach parallel skiing from the very beginning. Using short skis (90–125 cm), learners can immediately experience a balanced, natural stance. Rather than developing habits they will later need to “unlearn”, skiers build solid technique and confidence right from day one.

- Natural learning: Balance is the most complex aspect for beginners, short skis let you feel your center and control before adding speed or complexity

- Motivating: Students feel real progress as they graduate from one ski length to the next. It’s a visible and rewarding process.
- Entirely Adaptable: The pace depends on the individual. Some may stay with short skis longer, others progress faster. UPS instructors tailor the path to each skier.
